FULL EVENT DESCRIPTION
Brace yourself for a night of chills, thrills, and loosely-supervised mayhem. A Sample Haunted House boasts three terrifying attractions in one: The Cursed Cupboard, The Bathroom of Eternal Regret, and the crowd-favorite Corn Maze of Mild Inconvenience (you will get lost, but only for like seven minutes).
From the moment you enter, you’re greeted by a 14-foot-tall skeleton named Carl who won’t stop talking about his HOA problems. Inside, expect tight corridors, cheap fog machines, actors wearing makeup they applied in the parking lot, and the occasional jump scare from a screaming possum (we think it’s a prop — no one’s checked). It’s chaotic, creepy, and cursed in the fun way.
The haunt is fully walk-through, mostly indoors, and not at all OSHA-compliant in the most thrilling way possible. Photo ops, spooky snacks, and a skeleton DJ spinning Monster Mash on vinyl round out the midway. Come for the scares, stay because the exit is really hard to find.
EVENT HISTORY
Founded in 1886 by Edgar von Spookenstein, a misunderstood inventor who tried to crossbreed werewolves with fog machines, A Sample Haunted House has stood for centuries — mostly because the ghosts refuse to let it collapse. Legend has it that every October, the spirits awaken to put on a show for the living, fueled entirely by candy corn and regret.
In more recent decades, the haunt has been operated by Edgar’s great-great-grandniece Debbie, who describes the event as “a spooky family business, but like, with more unpaid zombies.” What started as a haunted garage has grown into a 13-room scream fest powered by haunted energy drinks and the dark arts of DIY construction.
